PSEB to Launch ‘Tech Connect Portal’ to Link Overseas Pakistani Experts with Local IT Industry
By Tanveer Ahmed :
The Pakistan Software Export Board has decided to launch a new digital platform titled “Tech Connect Portal” in an effort to strengthen Pakistan’s expanding technology sector by connecting overseas Pakistani professionals with local IT companies and startups.
The initiative, being developed under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, is expected to support the country’s ambitions of increasing IT exports, improving international business connectivity, and positioning Pakistan more strongly within global technology markets.
According to officials familiar with the project, the Tech Connect Portal will act as a bridge between Pakistani technology professionals working abroad and domestic software firms seeking international exposure and partnerships.
Through the platform, overseas Pakistani experts will be able to collaborate with local companies by providing mentorship, facilitating market access, introducing international business contacts, and helping firms attract foreign investment opportunities.
Officials say the portal is designed to improve networking between Pakistan’s technology ecosystem and global industry players at a time when the country’s IT sector is increasingly being viewed as one of its fastest-growing export industries.
The government believes the initiative could particularly benefit startups, software houses, freelancers and technology entrepreneurs looking to expand beyond the domestic market and establish a presence in international business environments.
The portal is also expected to focus on emerging sectors including artificial intelligence, fintech and cybersecurity, areas that policymakers consider critical for Pakistan’s future participation in the global digital economy.
Officials said overseas Pakistani professionals would additionally guide local youth and startups by sharing technical expertise, industry trends and practical knowledge about international markets. Authorities believe such mentorship could help young professionals improve modern digital skills and better understand evolving global technology demands.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which includes efforts to expand IT exports, increase digital infrastructure, encourage technology entrepreneurship and improve Pakistan’s image as an emerging technology destination.
In recent years, Pakistan’s technology industry has recorded steady growth driven by software exports, freelance services, mobile applications, e-commerce and digital outsourcing. Government officials have repeatedly stated that the sector has the potential to become a major source of foreign exchange earnings for the country.
The Tech Connect Portal is also expected to complement other ongoing digital infrastructure projects, including the development of the Islamabad IT Park and wider government efforts aimed at improving connectivity, digital skills training and technology investment opportunities.
Industry experts say stronger engagement with overseas Pakistani professionals could help local firms gain access to international clients, improve service standards and develop partnerships with global technology companies, particularly in North America, Europe and the Gulf region where large Pakistani tech communities are already active.
