The Pakistan Pavilion was officially inaugurated at World Travel Market London 2024 as the global tourism exhibition opened its doors at ExCeL London from November 5 to 7, bringing together thousands of travel industry professionals, tourism boards, investors, airlines, hospitality companies, and technology firms from around the world. Pakistan’s participation attracted significant attention from international travel companies and visitors, with officials highlighting the country’s tourism potential, cultural heritage, adventure tourism opportunities, and breathtaking natural landscapes. The pavilion showcased destinations from Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, reflecting Pakistan’s growing efforts to strengthen its global tourism image and attract international travellers.

The three-day exhibition once again demonstrated its importance as one of the world’s largest and most influential travel and tourism events. Organised by RX Global, WTM London 2024 served as a major platform for business networking, tourism promotion, policy discussions, and showcasing innovations shaping the future of global travel.

According to organisers, WTM London 2024 recorded a significant increase in participation compared to the previous year. Attendance reached more than 46,000 participants, while the number of pre-qualified buyers rose by 11 percent. Exhibitor participation also increased considerably, with more than 4,000 exhibitors representing destinations and tourism-related businesses from across the globe.

The exhibition floor remained busy throughout the event as tourism professionals engaged in meetings, business negotiations, destination marketing, and partnership discussions. More than 34,000 business meetings were scheduled during the exhibition, representing a major increase compared to WTM London 2023.

Pakistan Promotes Tourism Potential

Pakistan also attracted attention during WTM London 2024 through its dedicated tourism pavilion, which highlighted the country’s natural beauty, historical heritage, adventure tourism opportunities, and cultural diversity.

Representatives from Pakistan promoted destinations including the mountainous landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan, the historical sites of Sindh, the scenic valleys of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the cultural attractions of Punjab.

The WTM Global Travel Report 2024 presented optimistic forecasts for the international tourism sector. According to the report, global tourism arrivals were expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels during 2024, with approximately 1.5 billion international tourist arrivals worldwide.

The report further projected that international tourism could exceed two billion travellers annually by 2030, reflecting continued growth in global mobility, rising middle-class populations, and expanding travel demand in emerging markets.

Experts noted that tourism continues to play a critical role in global economic development, employment generation, and international cultural exchange.

New Exhibitors and Emerging Destinations

WTM London 2024 also featured more than 80 new exhibitors, including tourism boards, airlines, hospitality brands, and emerging travel destinations seeking greater visibility in international markets.

Several countries used the exhibition to launch new tourism campaigns, promote investment opportunities, and strengthen international partnerships.

Emerging destinations from Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East received strong interest from travel professionals searching for new tourism products and less crowded destinations.

The diversity of exhibitors highlighted the increasing competitiveness of the global tourism industry as destinations work to attract international visitors and investment.
