Pakistan Young Squash Players Ready for Asian Junior Championships in China

Pakistan’s rising squash stars are prepared to represent the country at the prestigious , which will take place from May 20 to 24 in the Chinese city of Panzhihua.
According to the Pakistan Squash Federation, the national junior contingent will compete against some of Asia’s best emerging squash players in one of the continent’s top youth tournaments. The event is considered an important platform for young athletes to gain international experience and improve their continental rankings.
The Pakistani squad will travel under the supervision of Director Academies Group Captain (R) Irfan Asghar and Head Coach Fahim Gul, who will guide the young players during the five-day championship.
Pakistan has named a seven-member squad consisting of five boys and two girls competing across different age-group categories.
In the boys’ competitions, Abdullah Nawaz will represent Pakistan in the Under-19 category, while Nouman Khan will compete in the Under-17 event. Ahmed Rayyan Khalil and Sohail Adnan have been selected for the Under-15 category, whereas Mustafa Khan will feature in the Under-13 division.
In the girls’ event, Sehrish Ali and Mahnoor Ali will represent Pakistan in the Under-15 category.
Officials of the Pakistan Squash Federation expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and hoped the young players would produce strong performances against tough international competition.
Pakistan has a rich history in squash and has produced legendary players who dominated the sport globally for decades. The federation believes participation in major junior tournaments is essential for rebuilding the country’s standing in international squash and preparing the next generation of champions.
The Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships regularly attract top junior talent from across the continent, including players from countries such as Malaysia, India, Hong Kong, South Korea, and host nation China. The tournament is regarded as a key stepping stone for players aiming to transition into the professional circuit in the future.
The participation of Pakistan’s junior players also reflects the federation’s continued focus on youth development and talent grooming through academy programmes and international exposure opportunities.
Officials said the young athletes were fully prepared for the competition and hoped they would continue Pakistan’s proud squash tradition with impressive performances in China.
