The Sindh government has launched a province-wide vaccination campaign to protect livestock from seasonal diseases ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
The initiative, titled the Pre-Monsoon Vaccination Program 2026–27, was formally inaugurated on Monday at the Government Veterinary Hospital in Landhi. Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani announced the campaign while addressing the opening ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the minister said the programme was based on the principle that prevention is more effective than treatment. He explained that the vaccination drive would cover the entire province in an effort to safeguard animals from diseases that typically spread during the monsoon months.
Malkani said veterinary hospitals across Sindh had completed preparations for the campaign and confirmed that sufficient vaccine supplies were available. He added that the government had made all necessary arrangements to ensure smooth implementation throughout the province.
Highlighting Karachi’s importance in the livestock sector, the minister noted that the city hosts one of the world’s largest cattle markets. He urged livestock owners and traders to take full advantage of the vaccination campaign to protect their animals from preventable illnesses.
He said healthy livestock would not only benefit farmers and traders but also contribute to the wider economic wellbeing of the province.
The minister acknowledged the challenges faced by the livestock community but said the provincial government was working to achieve better results despite limited resources. He added that all available resources were being directed toward improving animal health and supporting the economic development of the livestock sector.
Malkani also assured farmers and traders that their concerns were being considered and said the government would work with stakeholders to find long-term solutions to their problems.
