Motorway Police Deny Reports of Surveillance Cameras Being Stolen on Sukkur–Multan Motorway
By Bilal Haider :

Motorway Police on Saturday dismissed reports claiming that advanced surveillance cameras and related equipment installed along the Sukkur–Multan motorway in Sindh had been stolen by dacoits, describing the claims as unfounded.
In a statement, Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad said the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) surveillance cameras on the motorway had not been stolen but were removed by the relevant authorities themselves.
He explained that the decision to dismantle the equipment was taken by the “One Network” administration in December 2023 for security and administrative reasons.
According to the spokesperson, recent reports circulating in the media had presented the old matter as if it were a new incident, which he said was misleading and not based on facts.
He also assured that alternative and effective surveillance arrangements remain in place to monitor activity on the motorway.
The clarification came after reports claimed that sophisticated surveillance cameras, speed monitoring equipment, solar panels, lighting systems and poles installed along nearly 200 kilometres of the Sukkur–Multan motorway in Sindh had been taken by dacoits operating in the riverine, or katcha, areas.
