Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held a high-stakes meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday to coordinate a unified response to the escalating volatility in the Middle East. During the discussions, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s “unwavering solidarity” with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He specifically commended Riyadh for exercising “remarkable restraint” amidst the current geopolitical crisis a reference to the heightened tensions following recent military escalations in the region.

Mediation and De-escalation Efforts

A central theme of the meeting was Pakistan’s active diplomatic role. The Prime Minister detailed Islamabad’s extensive outreach and mediation efforts aimed at bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiating table. This follows the Prime Minister’s recent high-level engagements, including a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah on March 12.
