Rain, Thunderstorms and Hail Forecast Across Parts of Pakistan

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecast rain, windstorms and thunderstorms in several regions of the country on Wednesday, with a possibility of hailstorms in some areas.

According to the latest outlook, parts of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, Kashmir and Islamabad are expected to receive rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Isolated showers are also likely in southern Punjab and upper Sindh.

The weather department has warned that heavy rain, lightning and hail may occur at isolated locations in Balochistan from Wednesday night through 25 March.

Similar weather conditions are expected to affect central and southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region and Kashmir on the evening and night of 25 March and during the daytime on 26 March.

Officials cautioned that hailstorms and strong winds could damage standing crops in parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. Heavy rainfall may also trigger flash flooding in central and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as in parts of Balochistan during the forecast period.

Regional Forecast

In Islamabad, partly cloudy weather is expected, with the possibility of rain, windstorms and thunderstorms during the evening and night hours. Hailstorms may also occur in isolated areas.

Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain and thunderstorms are forecast, with heavy downpours and hail likely in some locations. Districts expected to be affected include Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Swat and Dir, along with nearby areas.

Punjab is also expected to see partly cloudy conditions, with rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and possible hail in cities including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur and Sialkot, particularly during the evening and night.

In Sindh, weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, with isolated rain and thunderstorms forecast for areas such as Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Dadu and Jacobabad.

Balochistan is also likely to experience partly cloudy conditions, with rain and thunderstorms predicted in Quetta, Khuzdar, Chaman, Zhob, Gwadar and surrounding districts. Some areas may receive heavy rainfall and hail.

Meanwhile, Kashmir is expected to see partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms during the evening and night, while Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to remain dry with partly cloudy skies.

Recent Weather Conditions

Over the past 24 hours, partly cloudy weather prevailed across most parts of the country, with isolated rain and windstorms reported in central and southwestern Balochistan, as well as in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The highest rainfall recorded during this period was 16mm in Khuzdar.

Temperatures remained high in several areas, with Rohri and Khairpur recording the highest temperature of 38°C, while cities including Sukkur and Larkana reported temperatures of around 37°C.
