Police in Swabi District have detained more than 300 Afghan nationals during a series of raids targeting people living in the area without legal documentation, officials said on Sunday.

According to local sources, the operation was carried out following a joint decision by the district administration and police to identify and repatriate undocumented Afghan nationals residing in the district.

Authorities said a total of 341 Afghan nationals were taken into custody during coordinated raids in Topi, Razaar and Chota Lahor, as well as other areas under the jurisdiction of the district headquarters.

Police officials have also instructed Station House Officers to compile records of undocumented Afghan nationals within their respective jurisdictions as part of the ongoing campaign.

Local authorities estimate that around 30,000 Afghan refugees currently live in different parts of Swabi district.

Officials said the majority of them possess valid documentation, but a number remain in the area without legal status.

Police said the operation is part of broader efforts to address the presence of undocumented foreign nationals in the region.

They added that the crackdown would continue until all Afghan nationals staying illegally in the district are identified and repatriated, stressing that the process would be carried out in a dignified and lawful manner.
