Lahoreites disappointed as Yango, inDrive free ride scheme stays off the road
By Tanveer Ahmed :

Many residents in Lahore who were expecting free rides from Yango and inDrive during the Basant celebrations have voiced disappointment after discovering that the offer was not available in reality. The Punjab government had earlier announced that 60,000 complimentary rides would be provided by ride-hailing services between February 6 and 8 as part of special transport arrangements for the festival.
However, commuters reported that only the Metrobus and Orange Line Train were offering free travel, while no such option appeared on ride-hailing apps. Several users took to social media to criticise the situation, calling it confusing and poorly managed. Some said they could not find any free ride feature despite repeated attempts, while others complained about unusually high fares. One commuter said a trip that normally costs Rs150 was charged at Rs450 instead.
The government had announced a broad transport plan for Basant, including feeder buses, public transport services, and support from private rickshaws and ride-hailing companies. But the lack of visible implementation by app-based services has frustrated the public.
The mismatch between official announcements and actual services on the ground has sparked questions over coordination and execution, leaving many citizens doubtful about future festival-related transport promises.
