Islamabad:The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the HBL Pakistan Super League’s 10th edition will debut Player Tracking Technology, enhancing broadcasts with ball-by-ball data on fielders’ positions, bowlers’ run-ups, and batters’ stances. The system will generate real-time graphics, offering fans deeper insights into every delivery.

While AI has already transformed sports through tools like wearables, injury prediction, and game simulations, the next leap could come from quantum technology. Quantum computing, which uses “qubits” capable of existing in multiple states at once, promises processing power far beyond traditional computers. Coupled with advanced quantum sensors, this could revolutionize athlete monitoring, performance analysis, and injury prevention.

One potential game-changer is rapid concussion detection. In high-contact sports, quantum-enabled sensors could detect microscopic changes in brain activity before symptoms appear, allowing for immediate intervention and potentially saving lives.

With tech giants like Microsoft, IBM, and Google investing heavily in quantum research, experts believe the fusion of AI and quantum technology will redefine how sports are played, analyzed, and experienced — making current innovations look like just the warm-up.
