PM Shehbaz Urges De-escalation in Call With Saudi Crown Prince

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday, during which he urged de-escalation of regional tensions and called for resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

According to officials, the discussion took place early on Wednesday morning and was described as “warm and cordial”.

During the call, Mr Sharif briefed the crown prince on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at encouraging all parties involved in the ongoing crisis to pursue peaceful solutions.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue and efforts to reduce tensions.

Pakistan Expresses Solidarity With Saudi Arabia

The prime minister also condemned recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the kingdom and its people.

He praised the Saudi leadership for what he described as restraint during the current crisis and said Pakistan would continue to stand with Saudi Arabia.

Mr Sharif said the relationship between the two countries had been marked by long-standing mutual support and cooperation.

Call for Unity in the Muslim World

During the conversation, the prime minister called for an immediate end to hostilities in the region, saying a return to stability was essential to restore normal conditions.

He also emphasised the need for unity among Muslim countries, urging greater harmony within the wider Muslim world during a period of heightened regional tensions.

Mr Sharif extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the custodian of Islam’s two holiest sites, as well as to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the people of Saudi Arabia. The crown prince reciprocated the greetings during the call.
