The United States Department of State has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to key Iranian officials, including Mojtaba Khamenei.
The offer was issued on Friday under the department’s Rewards for Justice Program, which provides financial incentives for intelligence that helps locate or prosecute individuals accused of involvement in terrorism.
Senior officials named
Among the individuals listed are Eskandar Momeni, Iran’s interior minister, and Esmail Khatib, the country’s minister of intelligence and security.
The State Department said the officials were linked to leadership roles within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which Washington accuses of planning and carrying out terrorist activities internationally.
In its statement, the department urged anyone with relevant information to share details through secure communication channels such as Tor or Signal.
Officials said individuals providing credible information could qualify not only for financial rewards but also for relocation assistance.
Context of rising tensions
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between Iran, United States, and Israel following the outbreak of a wider regional conflict earlier this year.
According to reports, Mojtaba Khamenei’s father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in a bombing on 28 February during the early stages of the war between the United States, Israel and Iran.
Washington has repeatedly accused the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of supporting militant groups and destabilising activities across the Middle East, allegations Tehran strongly denies.
