Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir has said that lasting peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan can only be achieved if the Afghan Taliban regime stops supporting terrorist organisations.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made the remarks during a visit to Wana to review the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness along Pakistan’s western border.

“Peace could only prevail between both sides if the Afghan Taliban renounced their support for terrorism and terrorist organisations,” Field Marshal Munir was quoted as saying.

Briefing on Security Operations

During the visit, the army chief was given a detailed briefing on the security environment, ongoing intelligence-based operations and border management measures.

Officials also briefed him on developments related to Operation Ghazab lil-Haq and the evolving situation along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, the ISPR statement said.

Interaction With Troops

Field Marshal Munir met officers and soldiers deployed in forward areas, praising their professionalism, vigilance and morale amid ongoing security challenges.

He commended their commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The army chief stressed that the use of Afghan soil by militant groups referred to by Pakistani authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan for attacks against Pakistan was unacceptable.

He said all necessary measures would be taken to neutralise threats emerging from across the border.

Tribute to Fallen Soldiers

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir also laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument to honour soldiers who lost their lives in defence of the country.

He offered prayers and reaffirmed that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs remain the cornerstone of the country’s security and resilience.

Upon arrival in Wana, the army chief was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar, according to the military’s media wing.
