The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a new digital assistant on WhatsApp aimed at providing quicker and more convenient support to telecom users across the country.

The service, called the PTA Digital Assistant, is accessible via the official WhatsApp number 923150055055. Users can connect directly from their mobile phones to access a range of regulatory services without visiting PTA offices.

Services Available Through WhatsApp

According to the regulator, the digital assistant enables users to:

  • Check mobile device registration status through the Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS)
  • Verify SIM ownership details
  • Lodge telecom-related complaints

To use the service, consumers are required to save the official number and initiate a chat on WhatsApp. PTA has also issued a QR code for quicker access.

The authority has released a step-by-step guideline video explaining how to navigate the platform. Users can select relevant service options within the chat and receive instructions or assistance instantly.

Focus on Transparency and Consumer Protection

PTA, which operates under the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-Organization) Act, 1996, regulates mobile network operators, internet service providers and device registration systems nationwide.

Officials say the launch of the WhatsApp-based assistant is part of broader efforts to enhance transparency, reduce complaint response times and strengthen consumer protection mechanisms.

In a post on social media, the authority encouraged citizens to use the new tool and watch the full guideline video online.

PTA has advised the public to access the service only through the official WhatsApp number or verified QR code, warning users to avoid unofficial sources.
