Islamabad Police Clarify Reason for Bus Terminal Closures
By Tanveer Ahmed :

Islamabad Police have moved to clarify the situation regarding recent closures of bus terminals at the city’s Faizabad Interchange, stating that the action is related to security protocol violations rather than any specific threat.
The clarification came after a journalist reported that authorities had shut down all bus terminals at the busy junction due to security concerns, prompting official response from the department.
According to the police statement, bus stands have not been closed because of security threats. Instead, authorities are taking action only against those terminals that are violating standard operating procedures.
Police officials stated that some bus stands are failing to register passengers on the software system provided by Islamabad Police. The department also noted that certain terminals have not installed mandatory walk-through gates as required by security protocols.
Authorities confirmed they are proceeding with legal action against bus stands that fail to comply with these requirements. The move aims to ensure passenger safety and strengthen monitoring measures at the high-traffic transport hub, which serves as a key connection point between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The clarification underscores the department’s focus on enforcing security measures rather than responding to any immediate threat, with officials emphasizing that compliance with established protocols remains the primary concern.
