Haripur Launches Comprehensive Anti-Dengue Drive to Curb Spread of Virus
By Zeeshan Naseem :

Authorities in the Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have ramped up efforts to control the spread of dengue fever, launching a comprehensive anti-dengue campaign across the region.
The district administration has deployed field teams to actively target and eliminate mosquito breeding sites, a primary step in curbing the mosquito-borne disease.
Officials from the district health authority report that the campaign focuses on the mechanical removal of dengue vectors. Teams are engaged in clearing stagnant water, cleaning drains, and removing any containers or objects that can collect water and serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Beyond these immediate measures, the administration is implementing long-term control strategies centred on source reduction and environmental management. These efforts aim to engage the community in maintaining clean surroundings and eliminating potential breeding grounds in both residential and public areas.
To ensure early detection and containment of any potential outbreak, active surveillance is being carried out. Health teams are conducting checks in households and outdoor locations across the district to identify and address risks promptly.
The initiative represents a concerted push by local authorities to prevent a significant outbreak of the disease, which is transmitted by the Aedes mosquito and can cause high fever and severe joint pain.
