Yango and PDP Roll Out Inclusive Rickshaw Initiative to Boost Livelihoods for Persons with Disabilities

Yango Pakistan, a subsidiary of global tech firm Yango Group, has joined hands with NowPDP to introduce Baikhtiyar Pakistan, an initiative aimed at creating income-generating opportunities for persons with disabilities through its ride-hailing platform.
The programme is designed to promote inclusive mobility and reduce barriers to employment by enabling greater financial independence. In its initial phase, five specially modified rickshaws have been handed over to selected individuals with disabilities identified by NowPDP. Organisers say the fleet is expected to grow in subsequent stages.
The launch ceremony was held at the NowPDP Centre of Excellence for Disability Inclusion in Karachi and was inaugurated by Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Labour and Information, Saeed Ghani. The event was attended by government representatives, members of diplomatic missions, and senior officials from both partner organisations.
Country Head Miral Sharif said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to digital inclusion and sustainable livelihood creation. She emphasised that disability should not limit access to opportunity and described the project as a step toward broader economic participation within Pakistan’s ride-hailing sector.
Amin Hashwani, President of NowPDP, highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing workforce inclusion. He noted that while initiatives like Baikhtiyar Pakistan demonstrate progress, long-term change also requires supportive legislation to ensure persons with disabilities can fully participate in the economy.
Through this partnership, Yango Pakistan aims to integrate technology with social impact, positioning inclusive entrepreneurship as a pathway toward equitable growth.
