YouTube Outage Resolved After Global Users Report Access Issues

YouTube announced on Tuesday that it had resolved a technical issue that temporarily disrupted access to its platform worldwide. Users had reported problems with videos failing to load or appear due to a glitch in the recommendation system.
The company confirmed that the problem has been fixed, and all services—including the main website, mobile app, YouTube Music, YouTube Kids, and smart TV platforms—are now functioning normally.
According to Downdetector, over 320,000 users in the United States reported issues at the height of the disruption. Similar reports came from countries such as India, United Kingdom, Australia, and Mexico. Downdetector gathers reports from users, so the total number of affected people may have been higher.
YouTube continues to be one of the world’s most widely used video platforms, reaching over 2.5 billion viewers globally by early 2025. Its premium and music subscriptions have surpassed 100 million, according to Statista.
Parent company Google reports that users watch over a billion hours of content on YouTube daily on TV devices alone, with more than 500 hours of video uploaded every minute. The 2006 acquisition of YouTube for $1.65 billion in stock is widely considered a landmark deal that transformed the platform into a major hub of online video and digital advertising.
