The Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP) and lawmakers from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced on Monday that their sit-in at Parliament House will continue until their demands regarding the health of former prime minister Imran Khan, who is currently in custody, are fully met.

Now in its fourth day, the protest is focused on securing Khan’s transfer from Adiala Jail to Al-Shifa Hospital for specialized eye treatment. Opposition leaders insist this move is essential for his medical care.

Key figures at Monday’s demonstration included National Assembly Opposition Leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas, who joined lawmakers and supporters gathered at the Parliament House, chanting slogans and vowing to remain until their conditions are fulfilled.

During an internal meeting, PTI leader Asad Qaiser reaffirmed the decision to maintain the protest while consultations continue regarding the alliance’s next steps. The opposition has demanded that Khan have access to his personal physician and that his family be allowed to meet him in hospital.

The sit-in intensified after a Supreme Court-mandated medical report indicated that Khan’s right eye has severely reduced vision. Opposition leaders have rejected any hospital transfer unless his family and personal medical team are present.

Government officials have indicated plans to form a medical board to facilitate treatment, and a court-ordered phone call between Khan and his sons was arranged. However, TTAP and PTI leaders insist the protest will continue until all demands are satisfied.

Security forces remain deployed throughout the Red Zone area, including Parliament House and nearby routes, while demonstrations continue at Parliament Lodges and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House.

Earlier, a detailed medical report was shared with political leaders, summarizing the findings of Khan’s recent eye examination. Representatives Barrister Gohar Khan and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, where doctors provided a briefing on his condition. Khan’s personal physicians, Dr Asim Yousaf and Dr Khurram Mirza, also received a 25-minute telephonic update, after which they expressed confidence in the care being provided.
