The Prime Minister’s Personal Electric Vehicle (PEV) initiative has officially begun disbursing subsidies to students, youth, and women, enabling them to own electric bikes and rickshaws with affordable installment plans.
Hamad Ali Mansoor, CEO of the Engineering Development Board, revealed that the scheme will cover 116,000 electric vehicles in total. In its first phase, subsidies have been transferred for 41,000 vehicles, including 40,000 electric bikes and 1,000 electric rickshaws and loaders.
The second phase will support an additional 78,000 electric vehicles, with the government allocating around PKR 9 billion this year to promote clean, sustainable transportation while empowering students, youth, and women.
Applicants must register through the PEV portal, providing all required information online. The process is fully digital, ensuring transparency and fairness in selection.
Officials say the scheme will help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, promote eco-friendly mobility, and give young citizens and women an opportunity to participate in Pakistan’s growing green transport sector.
