The Rawalpindi administration has extended the imposition of Section 144 throughout the city, with restrictions now remaining in force until February 21.

An official statement said the extension will apply for another 15 days as a preventive step to ensure peace and security. During this period, all forms of public assemblies, protests, rallies and processions are prohibited. The authorities have also banned the carrying or display of weapons and the use of loudspeakers.

The decision was taken by Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema on the advice of the District Intelligence Committee, citing concerns over the prevailing law and order situation. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with security agencies to avoid any disruption.

Officials warned that anyone violating the restrictions could face legal consequences under relevant laws.

Meanwhile, public transport has also been affected as the Metro Bus Service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi has been suspended.

According to metro officials, services from Saddar Station to Pak Secretariat have been stopped following directives from the district administration. The electric bus service within Rawalpindi has also been suspended until further notice.

No date has been given for the resumption of services. Authorities said operations will restart once conditions improve, advising commuters to seek alternative transport options in the meantime.

The simultaneous enforcement of Section 144 and suspension of bus services reflect increased security measures across the twin cities.
