MWC25 Doha Opens with Major Tech Announcements

Lahore: The first-ever Mobile World Congress Doha (MWC25) kicked off today, bringing major announcements in AI, 5G, and digital transformation across the Middle East and North Africa.
The GSMA released its Mobile Economy MENA 2025 report, forecasting that the region’s mobile sector could contribute US$ 470 billion to the economy by 2030. 5G adoption is also set to rise sharply, increasing from 7% in 2024 to 48% by 2030.
Qatar showcased its rapid progress in AI, big data, and advanced digital infrastructure, reinforced by new partnerships signed during the event. The 5G Future Summit highlighted the evolution toward 5G-Advanced and the early groundwork for 6G.
Sustainability also featured prominently, with sessions focusing on AI solutions for water scarcity and climate challenges in the region. Meanwhile, the Fintech & Commerce Summit explored the future of mobile-first financial services and digital wallets.
Ooredoo, the event’s Strategic Operator Partner, announced new collaborations and showcased innovations in connectivity and enterprise services.
