The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms in Karachi, where hot and humid weather is expected to persist over the next few days. According to the PMD’s Early Warning Centre, partly cloudy conditions are likely on September 30, with chances of scattered rainfall accompanied by thunder across different parts of the city.
Similar weather patterns are expected in several districts including Umerkot, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sujawal, Jamshoro, and Matiari between September 29 and 30. Despite the forecasted rain, most parts of Sindh are likely to remain hot and humid, keeping residents on alert for sudden weather changes.
Officials clarified that the monsoon season has officially ended nationwide, but showers may still occur under the influence of a post-monsoon weather pattern. The PMD added that any rainfall activity at this stage will be localized and short-lived rather than widespread across the province.
Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) reported that the Indus River at Kotri is currently experiencing a medium-level flood, which is likely to continue until the first week of October. Tarbela Dam has already reached maximum storage, while Mangla Dam is also nearing full capacity, ensuring water reserves remain stable.
The FFD further noted that the weather depression that had developed over the Bay of Bengal has now shifted westwards over Chhattisgarh, reducing any immediate risk of heavy downpours in Pakistan. Authorities confirmed that no region in the country is under a direct flood threat at present, though local rainfall may cause temporary waterlogging in urban areas.
