Islamabad:

In response to growing regional tensions and what it describes as India’s “escalating aggression,” Pakistan has announced its intention to formally brief the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the deteriorating situation in South Asia.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN to urgently initiate diplomatic efforts for a UNSC meeting.

Citing Aggression, Treaty Violation, and False Flag Allegations

The move comes amid Islamabad’s deep concerns over India’s recent “aggressive posturing,” incendiary rhetoric, and alleged plans to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty — a 1960 agreement brokered by the World Bank. Pakistan deems any such move illegal and a threat to regional peace and security.

“Pakistan will inform the Security Council about India’s aggressive actions, provocations, and statements that endanger regional peace,” said the Foreign Office spokesperson.

Central to Pakistan’s diplomatic escalation is the recent Pahalgam incident, which it alleges was a “false flag operation” carried out by Indian authorities. Islamabad claims the operation was designed to justify an intensified military crackdown in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and to divert international attention from ongoing human rights abuses in the region.

Emphasis on Diplomacy and International Law

Pakistan also intends to highlight India’s reported attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, warning that any unilateral action could disrupt critical water-sharing mechanisms and provoke wider instability.

The Foreign Office emphasized that the initiative to seek a UNSC session is part of a broader diplomatic campaign aimed at countering what it calls India’s “false narrative” and at presenting the “real facts” to the international community.

“This is an important diplomatic move to inform the world about the real source of instability in South Asia,” the spokesperson stated.

Commitment to Peace, Readiness for Any Threat

While reaffirming its desire for regional peace, Pakistan’s leadership underscored that the country remains fully prepared—both militarily and diplomatically—to respond to any form of provocation.

The government concluded its statement with a strong warning against any violations of international laws and bilateral agreements, reiterating its resolve to safeguard national interests and regional stability.
