Islamabad: The HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has announced the full-scale adoption of Match Officials’ Technology (MOT), powered by Hawk-Eye Innovations, for its upcoming season — a move the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says will bring the league in line with the highest international officiating standards.

While certain MOT features were used in past editions, the 2025 tournament will operate within a fully integrated tech ecosystem for the first time. According to the PCB, the system will incorporate auto no-ball detection, live umpire communication, Decision Review System (DRS), innings timers, match logging, and real-time multi-angle replays.

A Hawk-Eye technician will be deployed at every match to assist umpires and ensure seamless operations. Over-rate calculations will be tracked ball-by-ball, with umpires using handheld tablets for instant logging and DRS activation.

Fans can also expect greater in-stadium and on-screen engagement, as DRS updates and innings timers will be displayed live on big screens and broadcast graphics. Broadcasters will be able to enhance coverage with richer, data-driven analysis throughout the tournament.

“This step will ensure fairness in decision-making and provide greater clarity for officials, players, and spectators,” PSL Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer said.

The six-team event is scheduled to run from April 11 to May 18, with matches taking place in Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
