The temporary government in Pakistan has approved a new National Space Policy to improve satellite communication all over the country.

Umar Saif, the person in charge of Information Technology and Telecommunication, said big international companies will offer satellite services in Pakistan once they get permission from the Defence Ministry by getting special certificates.

To support this plan, private companies will give 6% of their earnings to help the government’s research work.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will give licenses to companies that want to provide satellite communication services. This change will help people in far-off places in Pakistan to get better communication using satellite technology.

The government also mentioned that if space activities are not controlled, Pakistan could lose about $40 million every year.

Now, with this new policy, Elon Musk’s Starlink might become the first company to offer these satellite services in Pakistan, which is a big step forward after some delays.
