“Spotify Tests AI-Powered Playlist Creation Feature: ‘Turn Your Ideas into Playlists using AI'”

In a recent development, Spotify is experimenting with a novel feature that leverages artificial intelligence to generate playlists based on user input. The discovery surfaced when TikTok user @robdad_ posted a brief clip with the caption, “I just randomly discovered Spotify’s ChatGPT?”
For a select group of users, the feature can be found under ‘Your Library’ after tapping the plus sign to initiate a new playlist. While Spotify has confirmed the testing phase of this AI playlist tool to TechCrunch, the company has not yet disclosed whether the feature will be rolled out for all users. The feature, titled “Turn your ideas into playlists using AI,” includes a chatbot field for text input, along with prompt suggestions above.
@robdad_ shared a TikTok video illustrating how he utilized the feature to craft a playlist based on one of the prompt suggestions, “Here’s your Witch House Exploration playlist.”
In response to inquiries, a Spotify spokesperson stated, “We routinely conduct a number of tests. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader experience, and others serve only as an important learning. We don’t have anything further to share at this time.”
